Each day, instead of reading useless, utterly forgettable world news articles, take a few minutes to scan through each local news source you’ve bookmarked, looking for any new articles about anything to do with your local farm area. Be particularly on the lookout for any real estate related articles. It could be an article on a new residential or commercial development or a stat about the local real estate market you’ve gleaned from your local real estate board’s latest Market Watch report. For instance, the website Buzz Buzz Home is an excellent site for Canadian real estate professionals, particularly those involved in selling condos.
You can also spend time article hunting when you’re on the go. Next time you have a few idle moments standing in line, stuck in traffic, or otherwise waiting with nothing else to do, rather than texting your friends or family out of boredom, use your Smart Phone for doing some article searching and bookmarking.
An excellent way of readily getting news articles is finding the Twitter profiles of other people who live in your farm areas who regularly tweet any content about the local area. Create a Twitter list in your Twitter account labeled “Local News” and then take each person who tweets relevant articles and make them a member of this list. When you look at this list it will show you the latest tweets from all list members you’ve added.
For building your list look out for the Twitter profiles of local journalists who in any of the local periodicals. For instance, searching Twitter for the Canadian Daily newspaper National Post and then clicking on the People tab shows a slew of Twitter accounts directly associated with the paper such as editors, columnists, sections of the newspaper, etc.
