Real Estate Internet Training: Optimizing Twitter For Your Real Estate Business Part 5
December 21, 2011
So your goal with Twitter is steadily building up your list of new Followers while developing relationships with your existing followers. The quality and quantity of your Twitter follower list should both always be growing. If you neglect the quantity of your list your overall relationship quality will suffer, and vice versa. As they say, your “network” is directly proportional to your “net worth”.
Your Twitter Profile
After registering your Twitter account, the first thing you should is take some time in crafting your Twitter user profile. This will be the information other Twitter users will see when they’re looking at lists of people they can follow. So having a very sharp profile is of the utmost importance in attracting and retaining the types of people you want to develop business relationships with. So I’ll deal with each of the 5 elements of your user profile individually since each is so important. Those 5 elements are:
- Name
- Location
- Web
- Bio
- Add Tweets To Facebook?
Name
This is the first thing people will see when they see your profile. Your name can only be twenty characters long so your full first and last name may not even fit. Unless you’re a celebrity with a household name (aside from Donald Trump, I can’t think of anyone in the real estate world who fits that description), you should not use your real first and last name for this area. Rather, you should use words that very briefly describe where your real estate expertise lies. Remember that Twitter (unlike Facebook) is all about ‘weak tie’ relationships IE relationships where the ties between people are very frail and undeveloped and can merely consist of the fact that you’re from the same geographic region as the other person or that you both have the same profession. For instance, for my Twitter profile I use the name “Real Estate Trainer”. That way, when I follow someone on Twitter, or someone sees my profile in a follower list or search results, they immediately know the type of services I offer.
