Using ‘Piggybacking’ For Boosting Your Site’s Search Engine Ranking Part 4
August 26, 2010
E-Commerce Sites
There are several business related sites you can post your listings on for listing exposure and boosting your website’s search engine ranking.
Be sure to post on eBay. It’s the largest E-Commerce site in the world with over 200 million registered users. They’re the 21st most visited site in the world and the #9 and #25 visited sites in the US and Canada respectively. eBay charges in two ways: a flat fee for listing an item for sale and a Final Value fee if the item sells. In recent years eBay has shifted most of their fees to the Final Value fee to encourage more listings, so putting all your listings on eBay can be done very inexpensively. Currently less than 500 US residential homes are listed on this site!
The other business related site you definitely want to post on is Craig’s List. It’s just ahead of eBay as the #8 most visited site by Americans and #58 by Canadians and is #31 worldwide. Since posting on Craig’s List is free in virtually all cases you definitely want to post all your listings there. You should also post a description of yourself and your farm area with links to your listings in your local Craig’s List Real Estate Services section. You should also post things in the Community section. For instance, you can post your upcoming open houses in the Events section or upcoming community events in the Local News section. As always, don’t forget to provide suitable links to your website in all your postings.
How To/Q&A Sites
A different flavor of reference sites like Wikipedia for people who want answers now are the How To/Q&A sites. Some of these sites are hugely popular and allow people to pose questions on whatever topic they like and receive answers from experts in the area they’re inquiring about. Other instances of these sites just have lots of articles written by experts in various areas. For instance, on About.com (the #29 most visited site in the US) you can post How To articles in any of the following areas:
* A New Agent Plan
* Is Real Estate For You?
* Getting Your License
* Real Estate Basics
* Serving Sellers
* Marketing for Real Estate
* Serving Buyers
* Technology for Real Estate
* Broker Office Management
* Professional Development
* Real Estate Investment
* Commercial Real Estate
* Real Estate Terminology
* BlogRoll
