What Top Achieving Real Estate Professionals Have On Their Websites Part 3

March 25, 2010

Now you may think a neighborhood business directory might not be all that useful to people, but all it takes for someone to want to reference this directory is the wanting the phone number of a local movie store or book store to find out if they have a specific title or to find out what the shop’s hours.  Even if they only reference your directory a few times per year, they’ll still remember you as a real estate professional when the time comes to move.

Real Estate Reports – this is obviously one of the most important parts of a real estate website because it’s where you get to demonstrate your expertise on the local real estate market.  The depth and timeliness of your reports is critical.  Periodically you can give reports on any of the following: number of sales by type (attached, semi, detached, condo), Average Prices by Type, Comparison of Number of Sales by Month and by Year, Comparison of Average Price by Year.  Whatever information you provide, make sure you update it regularly.  It’s pretty self-defeating to have a bunch of information on your site that was last updated 2 years ago.  It’s a good idea to set expectations on when this information will be updated.  For instance, you could post that the next update will be posted on May 5th, 2010.  Ask your visitors if they want you to send them a reminder when this information is posted as they’ll likely forget to visit your site.  This is a great way of getting them to sign up for your mailing list.  Also be sure to offer some analysis to go along with your charts, graphs and statistics.  A lot can be inferred from these stats and your own experience that many people won’t pick up on just reading raw facts.

Local People – past and present area residents can provide your site with lots of interesting content.  Maybe there are some famous people living in your farm area!

Historical Homes – Many people prize older homes.  Are there homes in your area that have been marked for preservation due to their historical value?  The original features of these homes are often preserved and reflect a different era.  These homes are one of the ways the history of the area is kept alive and remembered.
