How To Host Powerful Webinars Part 2
November 9, 2009
It’s really frustrating when you get a large number of registrations for your webinar, but only a fraction of the registrants show up. One way of making them show up is by having them put their money where their mouth is. Have your attendees pay a substantial deposit to attend your webinar (at least $40) with the clear understanding it will be refunded once they attend the webinar or listen to a recording of it afterward. You risk getting fewer attendees with this tactic, but you’ll know the ones who do attend are the more serious prospects.
Different Webinars For Different Prospects
Don’t have the same all-things-to-all-people webinars time after time. You should regularly have a variety of webinars, each for a specific type of prospect. You’ll attract more people this way.
For instance, you could have a webinar strictly for investors. Investors have very different needs than home buyers. They’ll want to know lots more about the local real estate market than home buyers, so give them lots of data. Investors want to know what factors are driving the local market economy. Talk about any new large commercial developments in the area. If you don’t know of any, ask the area’s economic development department for any news of applications for building permits for commercial buildings. Investors like this because new businesses bring new jobs which bring more people to the area, increasing house prices.
Be sure to mention during the webinar how much you think properties in the area will appreciate in the next 5 years as this is the most important information many investors are looking for. The research you do for an investor webinar will greatly help the market analysis you use in your newsletters and during listing presentations.
Offer A Toll Free Number
It’s a good idea to offer a toll free number to access your webinars. Many webinar providers offer this as an option for an additional fee. Some people may balk at attending your webinar if they have to pay for the long distance call. Some will attend your webinar but not call the webinar if it’s not toll free, having the audio portion come through the internet instead. The problem with this is most people will not have a microphone on their computer, so you will not be able to interact with these people vocally during the call. Even if your webinar provider doesn’t offer a toll free number, offer one of your own. They’re very inexpensive nowadays.
