Getting Your Real Estate Website Top Ranking For Google Searches
July 1, 2009
Some real estate professionals still aren’t convinced of the importance of having their website ranked highly in major search engines like Google. Many do know it’s important, but simply don’t know just how important it is. 80% of consumers looking for a home will use the internet, and about 85% of them rely on a major search engine like Google for finding what they want. So it’s very important you have high ranking in major search engines, especially considering you can get this high ranking for free. So in this article I’ll explain the basic principles behind getting your real estate website high ranking in the major search engines.
There are two primary ways your real estate website can get high ranking in the normal search results in major search engines like Google. Those two ways are:
1) Other Websites Containing Links To Your Website
2) The Words And Phrases Used On Your Website
Other Websites Containing Links To Your Website
The main method whereby search engines rank your website is by the number of websites linked to yours. In other words, it’s the number of other websites who have your website’s links on theirs. The more links you have on the web to your website, the higher your website will be ranked. For example, if there are 200 instances of your website’s links found on other people’s websites, your site would be ranked higher than a competitor’s site who only had 20 links on other websites.
The Words And Phrases Used On Your Website
The second primary method by which search engines rank your real estate website is by the words and phrases used on your website. So it’s important your website contains the words and phrases reflecting your branding and for which you want home buyers and sellers to know you for. For instance, if you’re a Toronto real estate professional working in the Beaches neighborhood, your website should be rife with all of the following words or phrases: “Toronto”, “Beaches”, “Real Estate”, and “Realtor”. It‘s also be helpful to have words of anything else specifically pertaining to your farm neighborhoods in your website. For instance, the Beaches area is known for its annual Jazz Festival (the Beaches Jazz Festival), so Beaches area real estate professionals would definitely want to have the event listed in their Upcoming Local Events section of their website.
The more instances you have of “Beaches” or “Real Estate” or “Beaches Real Estate” in your website, the higher the major search engines will rank your website in search results for anyone searching for “Beaches Real Estate”.

I must say Gabrielle, for a Realtor you sure do know a lot about SEO
But I guess that’s only logical – in this day and age, business owners need to constantly develop new skills and work on improving the ones they already have to remain competitive.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that you hit a nail on the head and neatly summed up how to do SEO. Of course technical details should follow this theory, but armed with only your article, a business owner at least knows where he stands and what he can eventually become
