Real Estate Content Creation: Writing Great Content For Your Real Estate Website
March 31, 2009
It’s imperative your real estate website has lots of interesting content, regardless of where you get it from. In most cases, you can post articles written by other people as long as you use the article in its entirety and credit the author. But you may find there are not many articles available on your farm areas, and writing may not be one of your strong points. So here are some tips for creating compelling articles that will engage your target audience and keep them coming back for more.
Plan Using Point Form
A good way of ensuring you don’t forget any areas to cover is putting all your ideas and thoughts in point form. You can then arrange the points in a logical order and flesh them out into sentences and paragraphs. This will make your article writing a lot easier.
State Your Article’s Intention
Your articles should clearly state what they’re intended to accomplish in both the title and first paragraph. A good way of doing that is using the format “How To Solve X Problem”. Doing this immediately tells prospects what they’ll get out of reading the article so they’ll readily know which articles they want to read. In the article explain a step by step approach to solving the problem. Consider using a numeric system in explaining each step (eg. 10 Things To Love About X Neighborhood). Search engines love list content like this, so these articles will help improve your rankings in search engines.
Use Short Paragraphs
Many people tune out when they see articles with really long paragraphs. So ensure your paragraphs are not more than 3 or 4 sentences long. Each paragraph should cover a single idea or concept.
Use Headings
Many people will scan an article to see if it’s worth reading first. The things that will jump out will be any headings. So prior to the most important paragraphs, have a bolded heading summarizing the paragraph to follow.
Don’t Withhold Information
Some real estate professionals try enticing people into signing up for their mailing list by giving only part of an article (or none at all) and requiring prospects to provide their email address to get the full article. The problem with this is the majority of prospects will give a fake email address to get the article. So provide full articles and don’t hold back on any information. The more info you provide, the more you’ll demonstrate you’re an expert in whatever areas you talk about. This will make more people sign up for your mailing list.
