Getting Your Target Audience Visiting Your Website
March 24, 2009
When planning your real estate website, it’s critical you consider the exact type of prospect you want visiting your site. When you identify that, you’ll know how to design your website because you should tailor your website to suit the interests of those target people. This will go far in getting your website ranked highly in search engines specifically for people searching for properties in your farm areas.
Here’s two you things you need to do for identifying who these target people are:
1. Geographic Area You Specialize In
You probably don’t specialize in selling properties in a particular city. Even if you almost exclusively sell in one city, you probably sell in a handful of neighborhoods more than others. So make a list of the neighborhoods you want to be known as specialist in.
2. Type Of Real Estate You Specialize In
What types of properties do you typically sell, or want to be known for selling? Detached homes, condos, town houses? Make a list of the types of homes you most want to be known for.
Now that you have these lists, you need to think about how your target audience would search the web for homes. Today, 85% of people use search engines for internet searches, so think about what keywords your target audience would input into search engines.
You should always include the most generic real estate related words in your list such as:
- real estate
- homes
- houses
- property
- properties
You should also consider misspellings of words for your lists. For example, bying, by, seling, hmes or rel estate. Few of your competitors will use this strategy. If anyone accidentally mistypes any of these real estate words, your website will likely be one of the first they see in the search results.
Wordtracker
Wordtracker is an online service which helps you know which keywords and keyword phrases to use in your website. It tells you how many people are using whichever keywords you specify in major search engines. For example, Wordtracker will tell you how many people are searching for “Toronto real estate” on a monthly basis. Knowing thousands and thousands of people use search engines for specific keyword searches in your area should really tell you how important getting your website high ranking in major search engines is!
Input into Wordtracker any of the phrases your target audience is likely to use. Once you see the most popular keyword searches your target audience is using, you’ll know which keywords to feature the most throughout your website. This is one of the best ways for getting your website high ranking in search engines.
